Frannz-Club, Berlin, am 06. April 2019.

Mit WE USED TO DREAM

Über die Single-Auskopplung ‚Bad Vibes’ sagte er „For me this one was all about just having space and being able to just do me, and hopefully helping to do the same!”

TouchYou.de: How did you process love and life in your songs?
Jake Isaak: „Honestly, I try not to think about it to much, I find it easier simply to try and say things which I haven’t said out loud about situations in my life…“

TY.: After your debut album – how do you handle the pressure to keep that level of quality?
J.I.: „Haha! I basically don’t think about trying to do better than previous work, I try and focus on what is the best I can do each time. I love found that when I compare myself to the old me, I start to not like what I used to be, but it’s important to NOT do that, because the journey is just as important as the person Im becoming.“

T.Y.: You are playing all instruments by yourself. Did you study music?
How long and where, or is it all self-taught?
J. I.: „Yea for a while I’ve played a lot of instruments myself on my records, simply because I realised, I won’t always be able to afford other people to play, so I might aswell do it myself where I can lol!
I’m self taught. Taught myself various instruments when I should’ve have been studying in school ha!“

T.Y.: You get praise from great artists, like Elton John. Has that glory been important to you?
J. I.: „I think praise from amazing artists like Elton John is great for the encouragement, but I think it’s always important to keep pushing and not depend on praise!“

T.Y: Are you satisfied with the new types of musical distribution channels e.g. digital downloads and streaming, or do you prefer the old ways of producing and selling records?
J. I.: „I think the new ways of distribution are great…the world is constantly evolving, and people’s behavior patterns are constantly changing! I think It’s important to adjust how we do music in order to reach as many as possible.“
